The original Confucius Says, Asadoya Yunta

Thanks to some youtube commenters, I found the kinda original version of Confucius Says, or rather the Japanese version called Asadoya Yunta [安里屋ユンタ/沖縄民謡] which I used Google translator and it means Okinawan or People of Okinawa. However did some more search and the title may be Okinawan dialect so it may mean Song Of Asadoya. Did some more search and found more info here which says "Asadoya Yunta" is a song that originated in Okinawa about a woman named Asadoya nu Kuyama, who was brave enough to reject a wedding proposal from a government official." However that title is for the same song but different lyrics which can be found here. There are a lot of versions so I am just posting this one which took me some time to recognise the Roman Tam version in it. It is there, just some time. Apparently it is "a folk song of Yaeyama islands in Okinawa."

The lady singer looks super chic and not Japanese.

Anyway found another one, this one more like the Roman Tam version I recognise. Just finished listening to it. Bloody hell! LOVE IT!!! So gentle, kinda reminds of beaches! Ok, in the middle of the night it does sound scary. But the samisen sounds lovely!

The ROMAJI and KANJI lyrics. Very short song, so many versions but the video is this version which isn't about some woman rejecting the advances of an official, which is another version. All taken from here.

The English translation of the above version. All taken from here.

Oh, My wife is as a flower amidst a bed of thorns.
I hold you back when I return at dusk.

Oh, How happy, how ashamed to acquire a name of unfaithfulness.
My husband is like a white lily but too much for me to control

Oh, After working in the fields under the sixteen day old moon,
the two of us alone but somehow constrained

I have dyed for you, a dark blue kimono.
Please wear it with a sash as a sign of my affection.

Oh, Welcome to Okinawa, the green island with the four seasons of
Spring, summer, fall, and winter.

A boycott is in order!!

UPDATE - 28.04.2010
Power of the people! Page taken down. Very efficient. Now very scared because don't go complaining about me!

There is a fine line between creating a page dedicated to your idol and pretending to be your idol communicating with your idol's fans. I have made the mistake of taking and linking pictures but I always made it very clear, I am not that idol him/herself. But one person has taken it too far! Sehseh has been addressing this problem in her blog dedicated to Charmaine about one particular person pretending to be Charmaine, fooling either her gullible fans or maybe the fans just played along with this imposter and on top of that taking other people's materials without proper credit and even purporting to be from Charmaine herself!

One such example is a written note by Charmaine, posted at Sehseh's blog with a huge notice that that note is to be posted only in her blog. Guess what?

I went to check out that Facebook page in question and there it was, that same note only this time the imposter said she as Charmaine wrote that note!

I feel for Sehseh! How dare that imposter!! How in your face! I wanted to slam that imposter but I need to register as his/her (I have a feeling maybe a his) friend before I can do that and I refuse to do that. Luckily many others pointed out the problem but well, it's the same thing.

So join Sehseh to report this Facebook imposter. Click here to know how.

I think one way to help make life difficult for this imposter. When next time Charmaine writes a message specially requested by Sehseh, maybe ask Charmaine to write her blog url as well. But that may be advertisement so Charmaine may politely say no. Either case, what a horrible imposter.

By the way don't mistake other Facebook pages as the same as this imposter. Others create the pages to support and to discuss about her, totally different from pretending to be her.

Now now now, anti fans aren't as bad as cheating overzealous fans eh?

Probably best line thus far & some charity event

I never thought TVB would go far in terms of in your face sort of line and so imagine my surprise when I watched the 1st episode preview of Ada Choi's Fly With Me, she as a supergirl but ordinary days she is supposedly ordinary girl with big arse. I thought she looked prettier without much makeup. ANYWAY, this one particular scene with this one particular line would probably go down as the crudest and the best line thus far; never thought TVB would broadcast that.

Scenario is Ada just realised she got dumped by her divorced boyfriend (who has a young arrogant son) when she broke up with him first thinking he lost a lot of money in the share market when he was just testing her, or rather bored with her and finding an excuse to find a younger hotter girl. Ada's character isn't likeable at all, in fact she is selfish and rude and despicable but she has a point when she walked right up to the man and said,

Sooooo this is the real reason? You tricked me into breaking up with you so that you can go out with her! Why don't you just say it to my face, like a man that you want to break off with me instead of some useless stupid excuse?

And so the man made some excuses and scolded her and so she was so angry, she uttered this soon to be classic line of TVB series...

You know what? I can't say I curse that you give birth to a son without an arse! No, I can't! (he already got a son you see). So I will say this; I hope with all hopes that your son will grow up chasing after another man's arse!!!!

Woahhhhhhhh!!! BEST LINE!! WOAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ada delivered it with panache! You know what, I think I am gonna really like this series if it has such lines. Of course Raymond Cho's character is pretty sad too, one scene he narrated how he and his entire family is struck down by pure bad luck. It was funny seeing that. So far episode 1 was quite interesting but that line, that was majorly wicked!

Best line, thus far.

Anyway in a very bad mood today when Greatness Of A Hero was bumped off schedule for some live charity event. Watched a bit. Nice to know all TV stations got together and saw some nice singing and that wasn't the TVB artistes! It was the young singers. They can't sing for the life of them and I think there should be a donation box to stop them from singing. Other than that the microphone did not work several times, it looked like a quickly made up event without much preparation which I suspect some singers were asked to sing last minute, hence holding onto papers when singing and those are veterans. The younger singers could learn a lot from Alan Tam and the likes. Eason Chan can sing but I hate him goofing around in such a serious event. Maybe even when he is serious he looks like he is goofing around. TVB artistes, interesting made up of mostly those I can't recognise and those I can, well guess who stood in the middle delivering the speech? Kevin Cheng! There's Myolie, Charmaine, all looking less made up and quite lovely. Raymond Lam was there too but in a separate category I think. I saw Steven Ma swaying to Alan Tam's music but I can't remember if he was on stage with Charmaine and gang. And talking about Charmaine, she was in KL like on which day? Sunday? So soon back to KL.

Overall frankly speaking I thought the event was appropriately emotional and I find it far more interesting when the DJs and hosts were talking about the people who helped, who sacrificed themselves, etc but the performances, except for veterans, the rest should just do everybody a favour and just shut up.

Did you watch it?

Updates - New review

Added review of The Gem Of Life written by myself in TV Series > TVB. Since the title has a THE in it, the previously posted Gem Of Life review written if I am not mistaken by Joanne is changed to under T as in THE Gem Of Life.

Any new reviews do send them in since I am free and can post fast.

The senselessness of it all

I always thought if your subordinate under your management and guidance repeatedly failed to do their jobs to which you as the supervisor should be supervising that leads to an acute failure in carrying out their duty effectively, you as the supervisor should answer for it by resigning. This is what leaders do, in theory. So I don't understand why this failed supervisor could still be given a chance to explain why she wasn't given a chance to explain in the first place why she shouldn't be sacked when she should have volunteered to take responsibility for her subordinate's acute failure that caused the suffering and eventual death of one poor child that her department is supposed to be protecting? I don't understand why she is in line to win millions of compensation. She should be sacked, pure and simple. Perhaps notices should be given? Ok, give her that, give her an internal hearing and in the end the inevitable is resignation which she clearly won't do on her own or sacked. Does she even deserve millions of compensation? Even after Baby P's death, justice was not served. Maybe served a little when his stepfather got really kicked in the prison which seems to be the only justice served so far but his mother is enjoying life and this supervisor... I am just appalled at how things are. Life isn't fair I know but at least it should make a little sense. In this case, it is still senseless.

Big time drama at TVB & yeah, about him ...

Drama, drama, drama. Maybe one day some rival station will make a TV series out of what is happening now. Anyway came across these rather interesting articles and whilst the articles seem to heightened the drama, as always there is always an element of truth in it. So far you can say they're half truths. I believe in the struggles and the conflicts as well as some stars as pawns but not the entire thing. As for whether Mr Chan is the sort as accused, I can't say yes or no for sure. I am sure though he won't be having dinners and having star talks with any TVB artistes anymore. Anyway we shall see... anyway have a read. Very entertaining. Like some olden day big mansion sort of drama. Who will win? Audiences? Nahhhh...

Four TVB Heads’ compete for power [Part 1]

And also this guy is making a comeback. Let's see what he said...

“This is going to be a big battle, I hope everyone will support me.”
The biggest understatement of the year.

“He expressed that he will put in the effort for producing good songs, after he finishes with his album, he hopes to have more time in Taiwan, he believes he’ll be spending more time in Taiwan than in Hong Kong.”
Probably because HK says get lost? And since much effort is put into producing good songs, I hope he will put more effort in producing good character, in himself. Of course I must stress the girls' were willing participant and if a man likes what he likes in his own private time, it really is none of my business. So I also hope he gets a good camera and enroll himself in photography class as I have said many times, I am more offended by the poor quality of his photography than everything else.

“Asked if love will be the theme for his album? Edison said: “The new song is based on my feelings the last few years, not about love. It’s about confession of feelings.”
Like? What feelings? Could this be the new title of his song? As in "Baby Hit Me One More Time"?

“Jolin was asked about Edison’s comeback into the entertainment circle, she expressed her anticipation: “I am happy for him.”
Give her an Oscar please!

Will you support him? I think I will, just for the sake of another scandal because "old habits die hard". If he still has his camera, girls, you know what to do. Not pose! Destroy it. I wonder how Gillian "I am the victim here *sob**sob*" Chung feels?

Wow!

Kevin Cheng is 40 years old? Bloody hell, he looks fantastic!! Can pass off as 36 or so! But alas, his acting and screen presence...what happened Kavin? When did you get boring? Was it when you started being a leading man in big productions?!

Google Page Rank and about TVB series

You know I am crazy about statistics when it comes to my website. I check the visitors log daily and now that I have installed this google page rank, I check it every day. Right now it is at 3 out of 10. That's like the peak for me. I can't imagine it going to 4 and above unless there is an influx of visitors like never before. But frankly I have no idea how page rank works. From my calculation not many visits here so how on earth is page rank decided? The other site has more people and yet only 1 out of 10. Confusing. Anyway if you have a blog you might like a page rank button. Anyway was watching EU (yes yes I like to torture myself!!!!) and was watching that pretty Fuchian girl actress (not sure who she is - HK? Taiwanese? Speaks a bit "senget" cantonese but otherwise she's ok) saying she earns her own money through blogging about her daily life. Ads were placed in her blog, even by request actually and she earns a lot, enough for her to travel 1 year abroad. And here I was thinking "Eh I write blog too! How come I don't have?!". Again I have been fooled by TVB. Oh yes write a blog earn thousands? Depends on what you write. You wanna read me writing whiny stuff?

And talking about EU, I am losing my patience with Pak Kiu who will turn his own disabled comatose brain dead father to the police if he had broken a traffic law! I wanna kick him! And oh dear, the whole Ah Man turning into mole for the police - what a friend to accuse your best friend of destroying your career! And what then later when Ah Man returns to the force?

Ah Man
Pak Kiu, sorry bro for accusing you! Gotta do it!

Pak Kiu
It's ok being called a snitch and traitor and blamed for ruining your life for the past one year. Luckily my colleagues are so damn understanding, never blaming me for snitching on you because I did what's right. Loyalty to my principles, never to my fellow police mates. BFF forever bro! You were catching a crook!

Ah Man
Yeah bro, like I said gotta do it. Bro forever man? Let's kiss and make up!

Pak Kiu
Ok, muah muah!

THAT?!

Someone did ask me a good question. Why ask Michael Miu to act in the same series in a different role? My answer?

1. no other older actor as good looking
2. possibly to create a conflict with Pak Kiu who sees someone like a dead ringer of his dead respected father. Ok, forget no. 2 because of what I said about Pak Kiu in the paragraph above.
3. to create a conflict with the police staff once trained under the lookalike. Ok, forget that too. Whilst the triads are supposedly bad people, I see the police with their high and mighty attitude even more disgusting. Their nose is pointing 90 degrees to the sky they wouldn't and couldn't see the huge pothole in front. So frankly no impact at all.
4. Possible twin brother of dead respected member of the force? No indication as such.
5. Just for the sake of just for the sake of it. Yes, that's the answer.

Let me guess. Pak Kiu the jinx in love will jinx his wife. One of the 2 leading ladies will have to die and I don't mean Pak Kiu or Ah Man. If they die, where on earth there will be The Acadmy Part IV : tentatively titled B.S? Laughing Gor will die. Triad boss will die. Will Cathy Chow die? Maybe not. But the mother of Cathy Chow will die for sure. We shall see! Anyway the police themselves are like some secret society in this series.

Am watching Greatness Of A Hero. So far 2nd episode, fantastic except why is Bernice Liu there to ruin the series? Is it TVB's policy to have at least one person to ruin my viewing pleasure? You know what I think of Sonija Kwok? I like her! Time passed. Her acting has relaxed and improved and her weird lips have somewhat relaxed from pout to mainly human form. In fact I really like her now that she is in smaller but still pivotal roles. And she acts well with Kent Cheng, believable as the graceful wife. But I am most impressed with the make up and styling for Rebecca Chan. Which makes me wonder, why Beyond The Realm Of Conscience have to make such rubbish with the make up when Greatness Of A Hero illustrates how commanding and beautiful Rebecca Chan can be as Mou Chak Tin with such graceful but is quite harsh looking make up? Why TVB? Why freak us out? WHY?! Her head dress is stunning and the black costume she wore was breathtaking. In fact the other concubines look ok, except for Leila Tong and her 2 horns on her head. WHY?!

And then there's Ada Choi's new series about her turning from fat dumpy bitchy nobody to slim superpower supergirl. I have no issues with that except the fat suit isn't convincing at all. It is to me an insult to have her wear a fat suit. TVB can simply ask Ada to remove every trace of make up, stop combing and washing her hair, wear loose clothing and believe me, she will look dumpy enough without those darn annoying looking pads under her clothings.

I have decided, if Rosy Business shows, I will do a Episodic Thoughts. If Beyond The Realm Of Conscience shows, I might do an episodic thought but I don't think you can stand it everyday. I know you will all be very concerned for my health and with my vomitting blood every day during the weekdays.

I am still writing The Gem Of Life review. Not sure why it is taking so long. Maybe trying to remember details in the series is like trying to dig up some repressed memory of something bad that happened. Shouldn't be, after all, watching The Gem Of Life was one of my happiest time. I mean I did all my miniature stuff then, I was happy. Hmmmmm............

Worst news!!!

And now it is Bridget's turn to burst my bubble and plunge that knife of hopelessness into my bleeding heart!! Why? I didn't expect this but should have guessed; like why the rush eh?

Having just released their wedding photos to the public yesterday, it was revealed that Go So Young is already carrying Jang Dong Gun’s baby ahead of their wedding.Rumors had been spreading since this afternoon that Go So Young was pregnant and Jang Dong Gun’s agency representative confirmed this happy news. The representative said, “Go So Young is currently three months pregnant. Jang Dong Gun is very happy about being a father soon and he has pledged to take really good care of his wife and baby. He also said that this was a great gift.” - Source

Let me be mean for a moment. If the baby turns up looking rather well the usual baby as opposed to super beautiful baby, we know at least one parent went through a lot of "upgrade"!

Heart breaks! But not as bad as the other one if you've been following my All About Masha blog. But still, having a kidney stone as Mrs Fukuyama and having a real woman as Mrs Jang is like totally remediable vs hopelessness.

Another song this time...and this time Donggun Oppa or Donggun Papa, bye bye!

Why does the sun go on shining?
*sob*
Why does the sea rush to shore?
*sob*
Don't they know it's the end of the world
*sob*
'Cause you don't love me any more?

*sob**sob**sob**sob**sob*

Why do the birds go on singing?
*sob*
Why do the stars glow above?
*sob*
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
*sob*
It ended when I lost your love.

I wake up in the morning and I wonder
*sob*
Why ev'rything's the same as it was.
*sob*
I can't understand, no I can't understand
*sob*
How life goes on the way it does

*sob**sob**sob**sob**sob**sob*

Why does my heart go on beating?
*sob*
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
*sob*
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
*sob*
It ended when you said goodbye

*sob**sob**sob**sob**sob**sob*

Don't they know it's the end of the world?
*sob*
It ended when you said goodbye.
*sob*

*sob**sob**sob**sob**sob**sob**sob**sob**sob**sob**sob**sob**sob*

Maybe funny ... maybe not ... maybe useful ... definitely expensive

Not sure if the following can be classified as funny but indeed very ouch!ouch!ouch!. May take awhile to load as all are gif files.

But this one is funny! That player with delayed reaction deserves a Razzie for his utterly non-convincing performance!

And I found something only Japan has. In fact I told my sis if she ever goes to Japan, she must buy this one.

I mean such a bloody useful kitchen gadget! Japan is funny and quaint and they come out with the best invention and the most ridiculous one, nothing in between but I must admit the above is to me best invention.

And I am still having a heart attack at how expensive a fruit is in Japan. Look at the following ...

Watermelon. Conversion? Don't be shocked ok? 1980 Japanese yen = 68.0779787 Malaysian ringgit

Wah lau eh! How much is a watermelon in Malaysia again??

Melon. Conversion? 2980 Japanese yen = 102.460796 Malaysian ringgits

2 pieces of mango. Conversion? 2980 Japanese yen = 102.460796 Malaysian ringgits, about RM50 per piece.

Packaging is nice of course, must be super sweet but I thought our local fruits also very nice! I wonder how much is banana over there? Also do they have durian? Rambutan? I don't even want to think about Strawberries, very expensive in Malaysia. Blueberries! All berries! But how about Japan? Are they seriously lacking in fructose?

I wonder also do they land in KL and quickly say "Kombawa! Watermelon ga kaitai desu ga?!?!?" (which according to online dictionary is "Where can I buy watermelon?") or do they just enjoy their own highly expensive fruits? Anyway I do recommend this blog for some amusing observations on life in Japan from the viewpoint of a foreigner.

Terrible news!

Ahhhh Sehseh why burst my bubble?!

I knew he will be getting married but ahhhh Jang Donggun is ending his single days on May 2nd. I think I will faint if Masha announces his upcoming wedding as well! My fault actually. I never really followed the news after his announcement that he is indeed dating someone so shocked really but ahhh... beautiful wedding pictures. Except for that mole on her nose. Wedding dress is nice (Oscar de la Renta , she has taste, albeit expensive taste), man's suit is nice (Tom Ford, also good taste, also expensive taste because this is Bond approved suit), ring is Chopard (eh? Not DeBeers? Not Cartier? Ahhh must be custom made ring! Did the couple designed their own ring??), very expensive. WHO IS PAYING?!

Anyway, the news here. Soon to be Mrs Jang is Go So Young (which I nicknamed now as Not So Young). Same age. Known each other for ages, dated less than 3 years. Hate the mole on her nose. Hope children will take after his looks. Have a feeling he will be the domesticated husband as opposed to the domesticated wife! And that is not the jealous me saying this. Have been thinking this for sometime. Ok, the inevitable. Pictures below. OK, LET'S START TO WEEP!!

His hairstyle reminds me of his Hyun Chul from All About Eve. So ermm.. can her head be cut off and replaced with Chae Rim?

If there is a better time to sing a song, the following is the song I shall sing now.. tweaked a bit of course...this is for all the weeping fans out there ...

Dear Donggun oppa,

People say I'm the life of the party
Because I tell a joke or two
Although I might be laughing loud and hearty
Deep inside I'm blue
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears..
...
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears..
I need you, need you
Outside I'm masquerading
Inside my hope is fading
Just a clown oh yeah
Since you put me down
My smile is my make up
...
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears

Making the most out of limited resources

The title is how I see the images that were attached to an email my sister sent me. Her email says what is I term as open knowledge. In Malaysia, specifically Pizza Hut, there is this salad bar where ...

Pizza hut sells salad by the bowl. So you are allowed to put as much as you can within one bowl

I never quite stuff things into it, just pile it somewhat high and that's it. Now this email, revolutionary in my opinion teaches me next time to make it an art form. I am not sure if I can achieve exactly that but just imagine, 1 bowl of salad enough to feed about 7 people, each with generous portion. Not sure how? Well just watch the images!

I am rather surprised the staff let them do that! But anyway, a rule is a rule! I am sure the person could have gone higher up but I have a feeling the salad bar ran out of salads! I wish I could do that with the mushroom or chicken soup! No wonder these days the soups are carried to us instead of us taking the soup ourselves! I would have poured until just the same height as the bowl! Salad not so keen on doing that.

My own reflection

I apologise for this post but I think this is the time for some self reflection as I shall soon be 1 year older and none the richer, never that wiser, and am getting wider. Old age is catching up, I am not those young giggling teenage girl anymore, but I still giggle, not really giggle but well.. like ha ha ha rather than hee hee hee. Even my laughter has matured. But what is maturity? Every year I ask the same question, every year I don't have an answer. How do I measure maturity? By my financial success? By fulfilment of my goals? By ownership of materials? Can I confess? I don't have a house that is in my name. I can't afford it, at least not the deposit and even if I could kinda afford it, I would rather spend my money elsewhere. Stupid I know. Foolish in fact. I have very few very good friends, all I know since schooling days. I don't have any close friends at work, even if I do, they're colleagues whom I am chatty with but will nonetheless drift apart when they leave. Amongst my very few very good friends, none of them are married and none of them are showing any signs of treating me to the bowl of shark fin's soup anytime soon. I myself am definitely not going down that path, not because I don't want to, not because I don't have anyone to but because I never look at all. Sometimes I do feel the only place I feel I have any presence is in the internet which is why even for all the bad stuff in it, I will say this is the greatest medium ever. I get to be me, whoever that may be. Sorry for the vagueness, I am still trying to figure out who I am. If you're those people who says "I KNOW WHO I AM EXACTLY", good for you but try not to tell that to my face. I am sure I am not the only one who thinks of myself that nor am I the only one to think of you that way. Confidence is great but too much of it is irritating to those who are as confident or not that confident. In short those who are not you yourself. How much do you know you? Or rather one simple question; are you happy? I think you can answer that. Ok, how about are you contented? A rather difficult question to answer where the answer can only be said to be of this moment. You won't know that maybe a day or two later, more so a decade later.

Which brings me to love. No connection, just something I wanna talk about.

I am often asked "I love this girl/guy, wanna marry him/her but she/he is of a different religion". Now in other countries that wouldn't matter at all. After all religion should be freely come and freely go sort of stuff. You believe, join me, you don't, well leave and find your true calling. But from where I come from, there is one religion where to marry the girl/guy from that religion, you must be inducted or whatever it is called into that religion. Now here is something I wanna talk about.

Love.

How giving is love for one to give up their faith for that one person for marriage, for love. Very noble. BUT if you're one of those people, think before you act because the consequences is beyond just a preference between a temple or a mosque. It is your changed legal rights. Imagine from having a say towards the distribution of your wealth to having only a say for 1/3 of it or no say at all, depending on your gender. Imagine your aged old mother not of that religion barred from receiving inheritance upon your death or you barred from benefiting from a will of a person of a different religion. Imagine a change of lifestyle which I am sure you can cope. But imagine your siblings, your family, and how your wealth is dictated not by you, not by them but by a third party that you don't even know but is an organisation. And then imagine on your death you have no say how or where you're buried. But before that, imagine you divorced and you will need to prove that you're not practising that faith so as to denounce it and it is a difficult task, so imagine this for those who are dead. You leave a burden on your family for the sake of love. Love should be free, so love freely but when it entails the change of legal rights that goes just beyond going from single to married or from having a will to will invalidated upon marriage but in this situation you can still make a will when you're married, not like in the situation I have described, imagine all that and listen closely to your heart; is it worth it? But love as in life is a gamble. If you found yourself a good man or good woman, why not? Just make sure you settle your affairs to ensure your loved ones could benefit from your death if anything should happen to you. I am talking like as if you're dying when you're just marrying but maybe you should treat it that way because come after marriage, you're no longer you. You will even have a new name.

But love, how noble. I won't be able to do that. Even at this age of mine, even when I sometimes like to have some company, I can't give myself that way. If you ask me to move to another country, maybe. Learn a new culture and language, maybe. Some new tradition that is not against my own common sense, maybe. But a drastic change of my legal rights that affects my family, no, I will not compromise.

If that person is you, and you're in love with such a person, I hope it is a gamble that will pay off handsomely. If you're not, welcome to my club. Let us all grab a drink (tea only, no alcohol and I am not a fan of coffee), and chit chat about our own reflection, on life, love and money.

Which comes back to square one for me. I am still in desperate need of a fantastically rich uncle who will bequeath all his fortune of millions to me (USD or Pounds preferred, no yen or rupiah please) so that I can be fantastically rich and be happy. Some will say money doesn't make you happy. Total BS. It will make at least one person happy and that is me so if you're miserable with so much money, contact Funn Lim. You can make me happy by giving me the money and make yourself happier by giving away some of your money. Easy isn't it?

Anyway end of rant.

Britain's Got Talent 2010 : Super talented kids (and dog)

I am so happy Britain's Got Talent is back! Amongst the rubbish, there were gems in episode 1 and I have to say I was very happy to see one familiar face trying his luck again. Kieron Gaffney, the young 12 year old drummer boy, now 13 I think. He was amazing last year but didn't make it to the semi finals I think. This year he auditioned with his parents but great that Simon gave him a second chance and his parents looked like loving parents so what they did was out of love, not hogging the limelight. This kid is super amazing! I hate those comments in youtube, saying he's redneck, etc. Look, this kid is passionate about his drums. And he has got the talent and the skills to match. No doubt a little older and some rock band will want to to hire him! I was totally amazed by his routine. I have no doubt he won't win BGT because his act isn't the traditional kind but remember his name. He may be in a rock band some day! Amazing!!!

Then there's Chloe Hickinbottom, 10 year old sounding very mature with vocals of an adult. No where near Susan Boyle standard but man! 10 years old! I'd rather watch her again and again than the current boring crop of American Idols hopefuls. In fact I watched Kris Allen/Adam Lambert entire performances that day and realised this year's AI is crap!

Then there's the dog. I am not sure what's her name but I will take a big guess her name is Chandi and the owner Tina. OMG was my reaction! Super super talented. Again I am sure this dog is more entertaining than the entire AI10 crappy boring entertainers!!

AND THIS IS ONLY EPISODE 1! So excited what talent lies ahead!

4shared & the free 5GB space email - Spam or the real thing?

I logged into my email today and received the following email from 4shared;

Dear Sir/Madam,

You're one step away from receiving free 5GB for your 4shared account.
For maximum security, please verify the e-mail address.

To verify your e-mail address and get 5GB space for free, please click on the following link:

If clicking this link does not work, copy and paste it into your web browser.

If you received this e-mail in error, simply delete it. If you do not click on the above link, additional 5GB of space will not be added to your account.

This is an automated email message, please do not reply directly as we will not be able to answer. If you need to contact us, please send us an e-mail to support@4shared.com.

We hope that you enjoy 4shared.

Best Regards,
4shared Support Team

My first thought was, "Eh, I got 4shared account meh?" and then I remembered, yes I do because of the 2 youtube related mp3s, that is the George Lam and Chow Yun Fatt songs. Originally 4shared is only 10GB. Anyway my second thought was, ahhh a phising email or virus email or whatever email but not real one. So I ignored it. Then curious, I checked online which led me to 4shared forum and where the same question was asked and the answer was, YES WE ARE GENUINE!

Hello,

Actually, this e-mail is not a spam, but a notice that we send to all our 4shared users, notifying of new features available with our service. Please, feel free to verify your e-mail and receive additional 5 GB of free space for your account.

So since I was in the office, I thought why not and so clicked the link in the email and indeed my 4shared account now has extra 5GB!!!! Now my 4shared is 15GB in total. So yes, if you received such an email from 4shared.com and you have an account there, and the contents is the same as in the one posted in the forum, yes, do click it and get your 5GB extra storage. It is genuine. I suppose they routinely give extra 5GB for certain accounts after a certain period because I checked online again and found some questions on the validity of the email back in March. So I logged back in again into my account and indeed, 15GB. And what a cynic I was, but then you can never be too careful these days!

By the way if you register for an account now you get only 10GB. I suppose this extra 5GB is for old users!

What's in a name?

Not that I am watching TVB's EU over at Wah Lai Toi (I am in fact rewatching JTTW over at the TVB Classic channel that I did not know exist until just a few days ago - so what is TVB8 channel??) and I can't help but like the name Laughing Gor. I love the way everybody calls him LAUGHING...or LAUGHING GOR! It is right up there with A Journey of Life's Onn BOY (not Onn CHAI). I wonder, will now someone call themselves Laughing? Quite an imaginative name. Imagine this, Laughing Lim! Maybe if I am a hyena! What about GIGGLING? SMILING? JOKING? I don't mean this as an insult or ridicule but I really do wonder, GIGGLING does make a good English name. All those John, Jack, Ben or Terence, Constance, Martin .. bleh! Let Laughing lead the way to great memorable English names!!

Serious! I am serious!!

Stupid beyond Stupidity !!!!

That's the title of the email I got and I had to repost some selected contents in here because they're funny! The screencaps one seem true but not sure about the last one. Still good for laughs!

SAMPLE 1

AND SHE STILL GOT IT WRONG!!

SAMPLE 2

Chinese will say "No medicine can cure this!"

SAMPLE 3
I admit I took a double take on this but then realised how dumb I was!!

A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE OF THE KIND OF REPRESENTATION WE HAVE IN CONGRESS, TRUE STORY:

A noted psychiatrist was a guest speaker at an academic function where Nancy Pelosi happened to appear. Ms Pelosi took the opportunity to schmooze the good doctor a bit and asked him a question with which he was most at ease.

'Would you mind telling me, Doctor,' she asked, 'how you detect a mental deficiency in somebody who appears completely normal?'

'Nothing is easier,' he replied. 'You ask a simple question which anyone should answer with no trouble. If the person hesitates, that puts you on the track.'

'What sort of question?' asked Pelosi.

Well, you might ask, 'Captain Cook made three trips around the world and died during one of them. Which one?''

Pelosi thought a moment, and then said with a nervous laugh, 'You wouldn't happen to have another example would you? I must confess I don't know much about history..'

NEW TV!!!

House's old TV is breaking down so my sisters bought a new 42 inches Plasma TV to which I am contributing some. Very poor I tell you but essential item, like air! I mean other than the computer screen I look at TV screen the most. So it is every penny well spent. Right now there are Plasma, LCD and LED tvs. The lastest and most expensive and the best is LED as it is lightest but the pictures is akin to Plasma and not blindingly bright like LCD. But it is worth 2 LCDs so no need to think about it. So it is between Plasma and LCD. Everybody buys LCDs these days as it is the latest and affordable. But we were looking at Plasma TV which granted is more expensive than LCD TV but amongst other Plasma TVs is considered the most economical one, my eyes suddenly felt at ease, not hurt by the bright colours and I love the dimension which is less widescreen than LCD. The more widescreen the more stretched your fullscreen show will be so I was impressed. Moreover Panasonic Viera guys cleverly put the show of penguins swimming in ocean so we can see the colours and clarity. Very impressive. Then we saw Samsung LCD, nice also but so damn bright. Then we saw Sony Bravia and I was impressed in the sense amongst LCD screens it looked the less brighter one and the dimensions are less widescreen than Samsung. My sister liked Sony since Sony is a good TV brandname. Panasonic is to them 2nd best. But I made research and my favourite singer, Masha endorsed TV, Toshiba Regza Plasma if I remember correctly got rave reviews and saw a sample of it and like it too but rather too high end for us. At the end it is Sony LCD vs Panasonic Plasma, one 40 inches but a bit older version and the other 42 inches and considered latest Asian version. One cheaper by at least RM500-00, both got discounts. At the end of the day it was between LCD and Plasma. After much deliberation, research and consideration of the fact that

a. we always watch TV so it must be easy on our eyes
b. we can't take bright colours or those with rich bright colour
c. we want clarity without blindingly clear clarity
d. widescreen but more proportionate widescreen instead of too elongated widescreen
e. bigger is better
f. but sound should be decent but priority picture, whatever the sound may lack, well we can get whatever turbo woofer whatever
g. Panasonic does not have USB port but have card reader which if using latest camera must buy an adaptor first whilst Sony like everybody else is USB port

Looking at value for money, both are, looking at brand names Sony is better and both offers FULL HD as in the highest resolution as in 1080p! But in the end it is the idea that I can knock the TV and still it lasts that made the decision. Plasma seems more "tahan lasak" and moreover I can't help but be impressed with the showroom model where I stood so close and yet my eyes didn't hurt one bit at all! So reading mostly favourable review for that particular model online, we decided on Panasonic Viera 42 inches that S10 version. It is coming in today and I am super excited! New TV! New TV!!!!!

But if you can afford it, LED is really the best. Very impressive but very expensive also.

The joy of DIY Mini Shop Kits

x
I think I am obsessed with these DIY mini shop kits! Whilst I may know how to do those small food items thanks to Polymer Clay, I am however not skillful in putting them together in a shop or dollhouse settings. Granted the Mini Shops kit may not be 1:12 standard doll house format, I don't know for sure but they're sure very enjoyable. It is also a very expensive hobby but thanks to several online shops, it can be affordable although I suspect buying from the source will be very cheap.

The mini shops kit I am talking about is the D629 series. I am not sure who is the manufacturer but from what I know it is Chinese and probably from Taiwan. The instructions is in Chinese BUT the items checklist is in English and Chinese. So you can refer to picture on how to do it. Like Martin Yan says, "If Yan can cook, so can you!" which translates to "If Funn can do it, so can you!". After all I do not know how to read Chinese but I do know my A,B,Cs and since the manuals is in Chinese PLUS alphabets PLUS pictures/drawings, it is something doable although sometimes you have to take a big guess how many require, the dimensions and often refer to the real picture of the completed product on the looks. Good thing of not knowing exactly how to read the manual means you are free to take a big guess and customise the mini shop, a little, like an extra book, more plants, etc.

The ones I have completed thus far are...

All are birthday gifts!

Additionally there is another more difficult one called the D627 series, which is like a free standing box and more challenging although I thought it was easy and also very enjoyable except for screwing the box lid to the box which made me mad as hell. The item should come with the box ready screwed so to speak or at least make it simple and easier like plastic snap lid or something. But I really enjoyed putting in the items inside which is double to what is in a typical D629 series which is wall mounted frame. I was very interested in buying more D627 series even if it is more expensive by at least RM10-00 but it was the whole screwing the frame thing that made me rethink my decision so I didn't. If not I would have bought the entire series. I made 2 which is ...

Also birthday gifts, one for myself and one for a friend.

Recently I splurged on more D629 series as there are big discounts and I bought ...

Frankly I am not sure whether these are gifts or for myself or where on earth I am going to store them! Some above are orders from family members. My sis wanted to buy for her friend by giving the friend the entire box. You know, unless you know your friend likes to make these stuff, my advice is do not do that. Give her the completed one because some may not like to make it but would like to display it. I may not make them exactly like in the pictures, sometimes too much glue, sometimes too much stuff, etc but I think my friend will appreciate the effort. And it does look very nice, like some 3D effect after it is done.

Whilst I was looking for sample pictures of the D629 series, I found the following even more fantastic ones but alas not sold by the ones I know! The place I know that sells that is in Ebay is way way way too expensive!! But if only the local ones sells these my wallet will be crying, my wall says ENOUGH! and my mom probably nag and then pull me aside and says can she have that one! Oh they will make great gifts!! But one local shop which sells the cheapest that I know says don't have but may have in June, one more still haven't replied!

Quite basically almost the entire catalogue but I really want that cafe shop and the xmas living room AND the birthday party room!

That same Ebay store even sells D627 series WITH LIGHTS!! Oh I so want these...

And also miniature music box with light!!!!!!!! OH LOCAL SHOPS!! PLEASE SELL THESE!!!!!! They will make such gorgeous gifts!!

If you're interested, and be forewarned as they can be addictive if you're into these stuff or you may just chuck them aside, you can get ...

D629 (now got sale until 7th April-shipping flatrate RM5- RM18 per box, like half the price!!) HERE. You canalso save on the delivery cost by collecting the items yourself during weekends. Delivery is by Skynet/courier. ETA probably 1 day if in KL/Selangor region.

Some D629 (RM25 per box BUT if I remember correctly free shipping)can be purchased HERE & D627 (RM35 per box) HERE. Delivery is by Pos Laju/Courier. ETA probably 1 day if in KL/Selangor region.

A note. The one codenamed Sakula (yes, spelling is a problem with these kits!) Pavilion or D629-28 is especially popular and is sold out often. However you can buy it from the RM25 online shop.

If you can really afford the above ones that I so want but not willing to pay the ridiculously high shipping prices, see this EBAY store.

What I do know is you can find these in your shopping complex or if you do find similar ones, they are so very expensive. It is either you buy the wood and make it yourself (you can find the wood in your art supply store such as Art Friend in The Gardens, KL) but for convenience sakes and knowing what on earth you're making these mini shop kits are definitely recommended for those who wants to make miniature stuff BUT does not wish to be all professional about it. Kids may enjoy it too, like family time activity but please, patience is needed and you will need 3 essential items not provided in the kits;

They got glue but not strong enough. You don't need superglue but just a stronger than normal glue. Get the mid size one. Maybe it's me but for me it is about one mid size one per one mini shop! Now I use lesser but first time my entire hand was covered in glue!

Tweezers a must to pick up those super small beads and place them on the board or in the box, especially for D627 series. Suddenly I felt like a miniature stuff artiste. Anyway get the one with the pointed or sharp end. Can buy at popular bookstore.

And of course a well lit area and a good nice comfortable table. I did the earlier ones in my bedroom but the rest when I was watching The Gem Of Life. First box took me a week, mainly because I was in shock that I had to make everything except the frame itself. By my 3rd box, I could have finished the box in a day or lesser but loved the process so much I took my time.

I suppose the cake shop itself I can make my own cakes and tarts using polymer clay. In fact I am learning cupcakes, so much so I have bought a kit to make REAL cupcakes. Out there sold as RM5-00 for big ones and doesn't even look tasty. I tell you this; I am sure mine will be better! Not ego speak or anything but I'll be damned if mine is not better after all the money I have spent on everything! Oh my wallet is crying! CRYING!!

Anyway I really enjoyed those nature theme or scene theme kits rather than pure shops. But those with food I love!

Just to those who knows me and wants to get me birthday presents, please be known that I do not mind getting DIY miniature stuff! Get me the ones with lights and even moving fans which mean I will learn how to connect wiring and all.

If you know where I can find more of such mini shop kits or those I found in that expensive ebay store but charged local pos laju rate or even buy in person please do tell! I want to get almost all of them (some I am not even bothered like that noodle shop-too simplistic!!).
