[TRANSLATED LYRICS] 風車/Windmill [Beyond The Realm Of Conscience subsong] by Charmaine Sheh

The following is the English translated lyrics of Charmaine Sheh's sub song on the series Beyond The Realm of Conscience entitled Windmill, translated a little by myself and whole large part of it quite excellently by Pearl. As usual some liberties is taken to interprete the whole meaning of each passages rather than literal meaning of each words. I thought it was a beautiful translation. Thanks to Pearl! Find out where to download the CD version below.

佘詩曼 - 風車(台慶劇《宮心計》插曲)
Charmaine Sheh - Windmill (Beyond The Realm Of Conscience)

Translated by Pearl and Funn Lim

紅風車 轉一轉吧 福來我家
Red windmill, please do turn a little and bring good fortune to my family.

求風生 雨點降下 花兒別怕
Pray that the wind blows and that raindrops fall. So please do not be scared, little flower

紅花開 笑一笑吧 福來我家
The blossoming red flower, please do smile a little and bring good fortune to my family

雲飄飄 聽風說話 娃兒別怕
The clouds float by. Listen to the wind speak. Please do not be scared, my dear child.

月缺月會順時 下雨下雪聽天
(this one's difficult to translate...It basically means that everything has its time and place - Pearl)
The phases of the moon will occur in time.
The heavens will decide when it should rain and when it should snow.

念掛像風箏 不見面 有著線牽
The feeling of longing is like a kite.
Even if we do not meet, there is still a thread that binds us together.

紅風車 轉一轉吧 福來我家
Red windmill, please do turn a little and bring good fortune to my family.

如分開 雨點降下 娃兒別怕
If we are seperated, and if the rain falls, my dear child, please do not be scared.

路近路远未明 念挂着我看星
The road ahead, whether near or far, is unclear.
You long for me as you watch the stars.

愿带着你路 风似静 变幻看清
If only I could take you with me along this road, when the air is still and the changes are clear.

红风车 转一转吧 福来我家
Red windmill, please do turn a little and bring good fortune to my family.

如分开 雨点降下 娃儿别怕
If we are seperated, and if the rain falls, my dear child, please do not be scared.

Father and Mother miss you.

红风车 转一转吧 福来我家
Red windmill, please do turn a little and bring good fortune to my family.

如分开 雨点降下 娃儿别怕
If we are seperated, and if the rain falls, my dear child, please do not be scared.

Obligatory post about my "Daffodils"

Here again, my once in a while post of the drop dead gorgeous (proviso-long hair) picture of Ben Barnes. What a beautiful man. One look at him cheered me up instantly!

Admittedly he can do with a bit of iron pumping and body sculpting but oh, what a cheery day for me to see his beautiful face. He is definitely one of my "Daffodils", well it's free to look at him. Do you have your "Daffodils"?

I remember posting that poem but it seems I just lost it! Never mind! A repost ...

Daffodils by William Wordsworth

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

R.I.P Park Yong Ha

Just found out from Sehseh's twitter post about Korean actor, Park Yong Ha killing himself by hanging. The news as follows:-

Korean actor and singer Park Yong Ha (32) was found dead in Seoul Nonhyundong on the 30th (KST), hanging lifeless from a cell phone charging cable at his own house.

According to police, Park Yong Ha was discovered dead at around 5:30 AM by his mother. The cause of death is likely suicide, but further details are still under wraps. Although this news was just announced, ‘Park Yong Ha’ immediately took the number one spot on Naver and other search engines across Korea. His body is now resting at Seoul St. Mary’s hospital.

It’s been reported that Mr. Park was seen walking to his room after massaging his father’s legs and back at around 0:40am. Park Yong Ha was repeatedly saying “I am sorry” to his family and his father, who is suffering from terminal stomach cancer.

Park Yong Ha is well-known for his roles in many hit dramas, including Winter Sonata, Men’s Story and On Air. Beside his successful drama career, Park Yong Ha is also quite famous in Japan as well, with several Japanese single albums. He was also set to play the lead role in Love Song, an upcoming Korean drama adaptation of the Chinese movie, 甜蜜蜜 alongside Yoon Eun Hye.

It’s a tragedy to lose such a talented actor so early in his life; our condolences go out to Park Yong Ha’s family. His funeral procession will take place on July 2nd.

More news here where his behaviour does not explain the aftermath. Well remember Leslie Cheung?

I didn't know who he was until a quick filmography check and found out he was that guy who was Choo Ji Woo's fiance in Winter Sonata. I never realised he was so young back then. A lot of fans expressed shock, and I am not a fan but I am shocked too, shocked because I do know he is due to star in some series and he has a steady career. He wasn't sick, his father was as seen in the report above. So it may be depression, brought on probably by a failed relationship? Within himself?

I just can't understand it. We are the middle class working people, we labour, we earn little, we do not have recognition, the poorest of the poor who can't feed themselves, those born with a huge tumour on their faces, etc etc, death was never an option for us. In Korea it seems they just throw away their lives just like that and for what?

Do I sound angry to you? Because I am. I am not sorry for him for whatever was his problem. Harsh as it may be, I pity his family, especially his father who is suffering from terminal stomach cancer. That may be the reason why he killed himself. Stomach cancer, terminal or not terminal is not easy to look at and not easy to deal with. Perhaps the pain of seeing the people he loved drove him to his death, because death without even having to see anything else, never to bother anymore is far easier than living.

Which makes me wonder, will there be a follow up suicide by someone distraught by his suicide? Someone else suffering from depression who will be more depressed by his death? If there is, perhaps the following poem may stop them:-

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

RAGE, RAGE AGAINST THE DYING OF THE LIGHT! Face headon with your inner demons and remember,

I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Don't steer your ship to doom. Life is worth it. If you have a problem speak up! Depression is not such a devastating disease. Life isn't so hopeless. Life is hard, and life is harder for someone else. Death is never an option. To live on in the face of adversity, that is real courage.

R.I.P. But if there is life after death, surely you must see how devastated your parents and your fans will be. That is never the sort of peace one should strive for. What a waste of a good life.

I was curious what Invictus meant, a word I learn from a movie of the same name, starring Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela and about a rugby team underdog. Anyway I googled it and I found the following:-

"Invictus" is a short Victorian poem by the English poet William Ernest Henley (1849–1903). It was written in 1875 and first published in 1888[1] in Henley's Book of Verses, where it was the fourth in a series of poems entitled Life and Death (Echoes). It originally bore no title, which was added by Arthur Quiller-Couch when he included the poem in The Oxford Book Of English Verse (1900)

What is remarkable about the poet is "At the age of 12, Henley fell victim to tuberculosis of the bone. A few years later, the disease progressed to his foot, and physicians announced that the only way to save his life was to amputate directly below the knee. It was amputated when he was 25". He led an active life until he died at the age if 53 with just one foot and he wrote this poem, clearly to reflect his struggle and his undying and unconquered soul!

Not every day you come across a poem so powerful, so inspiring. If you know this poem, I am happy you do. For me it is a new poem. I am not into poetry since I can never understand poetry but some, just some like Daffodils speak out to me.

If you do not know this poem, allow me to share one of the best findings on the net, to me a jaw dropping sort of poetry that makes me understand why we are who we are and why we must so that we could.

Invictus by the way is Latin for Unconquered and the title christened to this poetry is just perfect.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

My new mantra in life;

I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Never give up! Never surrender! Indeed! Indeed! How I wish I have the spirit of Invictus in me!

Anyway click here to read an analysis of this poetry and find out that I have the same taste as a convicted murderer/terrorist.

Why Pudu Jail was demolished

As I have posted here before, read the online news and finally got the official reasons why Pudu Jail was demolished.

Malaysia's government has said Pudu (jail) does not qualify for heritage status.

"The government has studied the matter and decided that the site is not a heritage site and will not be made a heritage site," Deputy Finance Minister Awang Adek told lawmakers Monday.

"The government is of the opinion that it is not something we can be proud of, there may be many (other) things we can be proud of compared with a jail,"

Some facts on Pudu Jail.

Pudu, built in 1895, was closed in 1996 to make way for a prison museum which shut in 2005. It was then used as a holding centre for prisoners undergoing trial before closing in 2008. During World War II, Japanese occupation forces used the jail to hold Allied prisoners-of-war, many of whom were tortured and executed there. The wall surrounding the prison complex is 394-metre-long (1,300-foot) [Source]

I still remember the prisoners, just a few hand painting the wall way way way back when I was young. Yes, I am old.

Ok, conversation with the said minister (Minister's answers is from this source):-

Sir, so a building that is 115 years old should not be preserved?

it is not something we can be proud of

But...what can we be proud of?

there may be many (other) things we can be proud of compared with a jail

But is that a new standard in classifying a heritage building? That it must be something "we can be proud of" before we declare it a heritage building and then to consider preserving it?

The government has studied the matter ..

But it is an old historical building that happens to be a prison!

it is not something we can be proud of ...

I know it is a jail but doesn't the fact it is also a historical building means it is part of our heritage, jail or no jail?

there may be many (other) things we can be proud of compared with a jail

Such as?

government-linked property group UDA Holdings would develop the site, with hotels and apartments to be built over a 10-year period beginning 2011

Come on, just say it? Why was it demolished?

Article: "Pudu jail, which sits on prime land in the heart of Kuala Lumpur ..."

Minister? Minister?

Yeap, that kinda answered my question. The whole "there may be many (other) things we can be proud of compared with a jail" is really subjective isn't it? The new standard to a heritage building in Malaysia;

a. something we can be proud of
b. not sitting on KL prime land
c. not a prison

So ... Petronas Twin Towers will qualify as a heritage building by end of the year even if it sits on KL prime land because:-

a. it is something we are proud of (it is a beautiful building, prettier than a jail)
b. it is not a prison, although you might feel it is when trapped on the 80th floor with a thankless job and useless company with no electricity and air conditioning but Twin Towers ever like that? NEVER!
c. it is not a century old

Can I say the KL Tower may be demolished next year? Why? It is not pretty? It is an eyesore? Oh, it is not a prison. And it is rather kinda somewhat maybe perhaps could be quite nearly probably is new, so it may even be our heritage building. My alma mater, Convent Jalan Peel should be announced as a heritage building because it fits the government's requirements unless of course, they feel a school is not something we can be proud of. I remember fondly the Virgin Mary statue at the top middle of the school (removed by I think my second year), the shadows cast by the missing cross used to hang on the wall (removed when I entered as Form 1), the old chairs and tables, the reported old nuns still living at the top of the tower (apparently removed or left or whatever by my second year perhaps) and the walls defaced by ugly paintings by fellow students. They were not Van Goghs! Now I see the building I resent it because I think it is pink/peach colour or something. It used to be sensible good honest colour, full of history. What did they do to the Virgin Mary statue?

Anyway, I heard the gates will be preserved? Will that gate be the gate to the new mall? Put a hangman's noose there perhaps? Why is it we must follow A-Famosa's example? And that was not by choice, that A-Famosa. In fact the whole of Melaka should be bulldozed by the government's reasonings, after all war, fort, subjugation, etc etc, kinda like jail.

Anyway what's done is done. Someone please remind our government if they keep demolishing centuries old buildings that have seen through wars and riots that we have no more buildings to preserve? Malaysia has no history? Or do we not care about preserving history because the present is history? Or rather because we will be bankrupt in a few more years so better to sell off prime lands to make money? But since Malaysians are so darn poor, can the malls sustain us? I mean we can't even afford to give subsidies? Why are we encouraged to spend more when we can't afford it?

Again I repeat, China in the olden days as in ancient China some 2000 years ago were the smartest real property developer and aspiring heritage building enthusiasts. Why? Almost all ancient heritage buildings were built AWAY from the city, so there is no question about preserving them since that far off remote land is not a place to develop in the first place. But then to be fair, when  Pudu Jail was opened for exhibition, not many went I read. Why? Pantang. Probably because the exhibition was shoddily done. I have seen the insides of Pudu Jail, it was an unforgettable experience. There are some who chases after haunted places and such. Why not turn Pudu Jail into a jail like hotel? Let those crazies stay in there for the night and all? Could be good business since westerners like that kinda of experience and they are not as pantang as us on such things. In fact create a story about hauntings and ghosts roaming at night and you will have enthusiasts coming to stay in Pudu Prison for nights on end searching or wanting to experience the unknown. That's tourism for some inns and places in Scotland, Ireland, US and especially England. Do we have famous ghosts in Pudu Jail?

ASTRO got NHK meh?? Someone said Dynasty package has but I got Dynasty package, I think. Is this the one where you must by Shuang xing or something like that?? Got meh?? I got the Wah Lai Toi package.

Injustice or incompetence?

Germany 4, England 1. I obvious goal by England disallowed because apparently NO ONE SAW IT and one obvious offside goal allowed for the Germans. My brother screamed injustice, something wrong with the side official and the blindness of the 4th official. I agree BUT England oh England, it seems only Lampard was playing! The coach will get plentiful of insults but at the end of the day English fans and press will highlight the injustice of the decisions although let's face it, the Germans outran the English, or rather the English didn't bother. Mick Jagger was English again but darn he looked dark faced all over!  Rooney? A major flop. Terry? Where was the defence? Beckham should have said "Mr Capello, give me my shirt!" and hobble onto the pitch. He could have probably played better than the rest of them.

I have no feel. I am numbed. Tonight, GOOOOOO ARGENTINAAAAAAAAAA!!!

By the way now there may be even better cause for instant replay BUT for the eyes of the 4th official only. But if the 4th official was sleeping like today? What to do?

And indeed, it seems my brother may be English after all! The press is reporting on the suspect Uruguayan linesman!

AND I WAS RIGHT AGAIN! The goal that didn't count, that's all that is being debated. Well give video reference to the 4th official only. If the goal had gone in would England have won? I don't think so. The English just couldn't run and pass the ball properly and the defence was terrible. Credit to the Germans for being super cool, even if aided by their 12th player.

Finally, a good game

Indeed! USA lost to Ghana 2-1 over extra time. First of I know zero pf Ghana until I was given the background, and they're all very young. Since USA can outrun many, here for once a group that can outrun the fast USA! I admit, USA put up a good fight and poor Landon Donovan was running everywhere, and he has a knack of being there at the right time. And he never dived, for what I can notice. However the USA team was in terrible need of a good midfielder. Ghana whenever they had the ball, they could pass using left or right leg, quite an efficient and flamboyant bunch. US had a great chance but I can't remember who but the player had to switch his foot, like English players. Ghana players displayed great skills which USA lacks but USA displayed speed which Ghana could match. Very exciting game. However I wasn't very happy with the referee. I mean he was good, except many fouls he either ignored or didn't give a deserving yellow card to particularly one or two US player who aimed for the leg and not the ball when tackling. One should have been a penalty. And that I think called Dempsey just kept diving, and we were all counting just how many times he will drop to the floor and roll around. One time there was zero contact and the Ghana player got a booking for it. So US does know how to play rough! Many celebrities like Mick Jagger supported USA which prompted the commentator to give a funny quip about Mick Jagger being an American. Frankly I am not even sure if he is British anymore. Bill Clinton was there and I just found out he is the chairman of the committee to bid for hosting of World Cup in USA which is interesting. Probably they all realise by now World Cup is probably the only sporting event that actually raises your profile AND makes money at the same time. I think some basketball stars were there as well. Even Obama was watching on TV. Can I say USA gave a good fight? They did! Unfortunately one or two players do not win the game. Frankly they were outskilled by Ghana and Ghana gave 2 amazing goals, which I am happy to see finally happening in World Cup. I believe Ghana may crash against Uruguay but being such a young team, they may mature by the next world cup. Who knows, Ghana may have a real chance 4 years later!

As for US, I believe they may now pay more attention to finding good talents on US soil which isn't lacking as my walking football dictionary said Man U plans to buy a very young US player who plays like Pele. With new players who will get exposed to football in football mad nation and in big clubs, it would only mean USA has a good chance of going further in future World Cups. Sometimes it takes time but like Lionel Messi who is still young and hasn't peak yet even this year or Cristiano Ronaldo or the Ghana players, they will peak when they reach mid or late 20s. What US players need is exposure, to upgrade their skill in dribbling, passing the ball and scoring without the need of going so close to the goalpost.

And they should stop diving. At least they have the country's support or rather blossoming support. My sis was very angry when she read one US commentator who wrote that football or soccer as they call it requires little skill. I didn't say I didn't like US team, it is just all these put downs that may not help the game any further in US. Running 90 minutes on a football field with one tiny ball with 10 other team mates to get it into the goalpost possible guarded by 11 others isn't a game without skill. It in fact requires a lot of skill. Sometimes I do pity the likes of Landon Donovan who is doing so much to promote the sport and often shot down so many times and mostly by his kin. Look, the world isn't against the US like some forums I read, it is just that you can support someone who doesn't care.

It is like between US press who doesn't quite care or Italian press who cared so much they are particularly vicious. Or even the English press until England wins one game and there they go, praising sky high. For all I know, England may just crash out.

Tonight a game I really look forward to! Argentina Vs Mexico, both I support!

Jackie Chan, the new Wang Lee Hom?

When it comes to World Cup? Remember Wang Lee Hom made the big poo-poo when he said he has no time to watch World Cup and will watch NEXT YEAR? Well it seems Jackie Chan predicted who will reach the finals; "Inter Milan and Barcelano". I can't find this gaffe online except for here but that person can't even spell Pele right. Maybe just those howlers. Jackie can't be that dumb?! He's from HK, football mad nation!

Favourite moment in World Cup 2010, thus far : John Terry the torpedo

Thus far, one of the more memorable defensive tactic as done by John Terry England, funny but effective. Must admire his guts. His head could have been smashed!

The report here. The video below.

Brazil Vs Portugal

(ADD) What a boring game! I fell asleep, woke up and wondered why bother with 5 minute extra time. Just stop the snooze-fest immediately.

Coming up very very soon, entire family here to watch. I do hope Portugal wins but I have a feeling, ok, an obvious one that Brazil will win. But I am told even if Portugal losses they will still get to next round unless the country with the cool name, Côte d'Ivoire trounces North Korea like how many goals? 8? 9? I mean North Korea are whipping boys but that much? Not sure. I am almost certain Portugal and Brazil will go through.

And I am still worried for the North Korean players. Wonder how their leader would take yet another huge defeat?

But should I be more worried for Brazil's fans that if Portugal somehow beat them and trash them good which won't happen? Brazil will still proceed to next round but you all know every World Cup everybody seems to think Brazil will lift the cup.

But that won't happen, that Portugal beating the heck out of Brazil. Streets will be deserted tonight and mamak shops filled with people.

Like I said, even my house is now full of people. Good though, since hopefully the cheering and swearing will drown out those pesky vuvuzelas. I need some samba tonight, so am very excited to see Brazil game proper. And yes it is fun to watch Cristiano Ronaldo whom I have nicknamed the egoistical fancy peacock for many many reasons. Ego is good, he has confidence. On contrast everytime I see any English player, specifically Steven Gerrard, I feel like the world is coming to an end.

Lolita fashion

And only in Japan. Maybe spread to elsewhere but mostly in Japan. I know about Lolita fashion but don't really know much. When I read Lolita, my mind went to that book about paedophilia. Lolita reminds me of little girls. Now Lolita fashion is a different thing. It's normal to wear that way in Japan in seems. You may look more out of place in a kimono than a lolita dress. I don't know; Japan has this fascination with all school girls/young girls/young teen looks, so to see a 30 something wearing a lolita fashion or a young girl in her 20s doing that seems to be screaming something either sickening, troubling or both BUT to see a Japanese in such a fashion seems just normal. I mean, they're Japanese! Found this interesting video about Lolita fashion. Let's just say I love the handbags. I'd rather walk around in an elaborate Geisha kimono, those milk maid lolita-ish fashion seems more suited for bedroom stuff if you know what I mean.

This or school uniforms like Sailormoon. At least way better than this mind bogglingly indecent swimwear (beware of kinda naked women)

Well what more can I say? They're Japanese!

If only it was real ...

I feel kinda weird looking at Steven Ma-Fala Chen wedding photo since they played siblings twice but you know what? What a lovely looking pair! Fala Chen especially looks sweet and beautiful and really paired off well with Steven Ma who could do with a better looking tuxedo and hairstyle. I wonder if there is a Steven Ma - Linda Chung wedding pictures? Anyway you can view the original report and the original sized scans at Jayne Stars where there was a funny story of how an old lady mistaken Steven Ma getting married on that day! And even more interesting, the old lady did not know who is Fala Chen and recognised Steven Ma and this is why Steven Ma is hot property these days!

I have seen some really nice real and promotional wedding pictures which I have never blogged about like Power Chan's real wedding pictures and admittedly Jang Donggun's one.. Do you have your favourite REAL VS PROMOTIONAL ASIAN CELEBRITY WEDDING PICTURES? Do give me the link. Would love to see them!

It could happen...

I live with dread that USA might actually lift the World Cup since all the big names are crashing out AND some will annihilate one another leaving the road clear for USA. Italy oh total shambles! Just watched half a game and am now going to sleep. I give up!

(ADD) Italy did netted 2 goals in but Slovakia netted THREE goals. Poor Italy. They really didn't play to win.

As for America, until and unless they call football football instead of the dastardly SOCCER, they have no right to lift the world cup. And how pompous to think just because they got first place in their group that the internet melted because of them when the high traffic can be due to England winning and England has many fans in Asia. No one bothered with the US game, at least not in places where football is called football!

The Last Airbender

However you may criticise Night (we are good friends you see, also I am lazy to check spelling of his name), you must admit he is great at suspense and action scenes. So I am eager to watch The Last Airbender, but not 3D for me! And seeing these posters and knowing little about the animated versions, I must say I am even more eager! The boy looks seriously deadly!

Apparently the boy knows Karate but we are talking about Kung Fu right?

Yeah, England's in!

Great news! England after much insults and curses on their mothers by fans and haters alike from everywhere that has fans of EPL finally and grudgingly wins the must win match against Slovenia! But Rooney still shooting blanks AND it was very funny watching Terry torpedoed the ball with his entire body! That moment should be repeated in all broadcasts because if only England played that way from day 1! And Capello, please leave Joe Cole out of the game! He is darn awful!

Poor Slovenia though! Because USA won over Algeria 1-0, it means Slovenia is out. Bad news for England as runner ups they will meet the winner of another group and it could potentially be Germany. I am preparing myself for England's exit.

Love this game because English fans came out in full force and for once it felt like a real football game with singing of God Save The Queen and the cheering outnumbered the darn useless pesky vuvuzelas!

As for my prediction of the last 4, I would say Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Italy.

Someone said Portugal has a chance, I think not. Italy may be kicked out but they're slow starters as always. Germany will bounce back. Spain, I never thought they have much luck. I'd like to say England but my head tells me nope, not them. My prediction of a final is Brazil Vs Argentina, if they haven't meet earlier and annihilate one another.

My brother said in North Korea when they group got slammed with 4th goal by Portugal, there was a sudden blackout. I now fear for the North Koreans footballers' safety. I wonder will they be ok?

AND in one very humiliating moment as narrated by my sister to me, Wang Lee Hom was asked if he watches the WORLD CUP, and he replied he doesn't but he will watch NEXT YEAR!!!!

Ok, maybe he was tired, maybe he mistaken World Cup for baseball world series AND maybe , well most probably he is American so what does he know about World Cup? Maybe the question should have been more specific; FIFA World Cup.

But Edison was born in the right country...

Remember this post about a certain Indonesian celebrity? Anyway poor guy. He faces up to 12 year jail for making pornography. The law says not just distribute but make also can be found guilty so it will include private videos stolen and distributed by 3rd parties. Doesn't seem fair to me. Anyway the news here. His defence now? Just deny everything. Since so blurry, you can argue it may or may not be him. Admitting him won't get him leniency since he will be the poster boy for anti everything movement, being the scapegoat.

Raymond Lam and the whole tight pants-gate

Fed up since my last post on this on this tight pants-gate, I took it upon myself to screencap that particular scene in Episode 13 of Mysteries Of Love and found myself more offended by his hair, his whole "conductor cum waiter" costume and the whole dramatic hit by a car scene than the so called protrusion. I apologise for the quality since well, it ain't full HD so we will have to make do until someone, somewhere, somehow, someday, somewhat will upload that darn clip in youtube using HD version, if TVB ever broadcasts it in HD!

All are thumbnails. Click on them for somewhat bigger size (no pun intended!).

Let me be clear about this; yes, there is a clear protrusion but the problem is rather that Ray should have spent a bit more time to adjust the whole damn protrusion to middle or somewhere near middle than leave it at the right side (or left if seen through our eyes) and should avoid tight underwear. The pants wasn't THAT tight, I could still see some room for breathing but rather the whole spot wasn't adjusted well before filming. I think it is a combination of pants material that clings to the skin, the underwear and adjustment that showed the protrusion which isn't in its heightened state but rather normal state. Ok, call it a bulge ok? And since they were filming in the street, I suppose he didn't have space nor time to adjust it, in open space. Imagine he had to walk around HK like that, in front of so many people. And the director let it be and didn't leave it in the cutting floor probably because he had no time, the episode must be released AND cheap publicity for a much maligned series even when it was filming. Now more reasons to tune in to watch. It is not as bad as fly opened right?

Anyway you can watch this particular episode and the whole protrusion having its own starring moment here. For once we have a well endowed Chinese man who is famous, handsome and talented. That is a good thing. OK crudeness ends here.

Feel free to repost the images. I hate that youtube failed us all!!

The end of an era, sort of

Apparently there is a law in Malaysia when it comes to preserving heritage building. The building itself must be

a. historical
b. relevant to Malaysian history
c. min 1000 years old
d. not located in city centre

Pudu Jail being a mere 100 plus years old of course fails c and d requirement. Just so you know I doubt in Malaysia there is any building that would fulfill requirement c at all.

Ok, kidding! No such requirements but Pudu Jail is no more, is true. The whole place or part of the place was demolished yesterday I read to make way for... guess! GUESS!

Mall and residential apartments! Of course it is inevitable. That piece of land where the jail was located is prime of the prime of the prime area of KL. Mall, like we need another. Apartments? Let's just pray that when you buy that unit it is not located anywhere near the

1. morgue
2. execution hall
3. violent criminals' cell

because it will be in the prison complex. Can we say it will be the most haunted place in Malaysia? YOU BET! Get ready with your priest/haji/monk/sammi combo or whatever is your religious faith because you ain't wanna move into that place!

Anyway I read some opposition which I agree to an extent. I mean it should be demolished because it is an eyesore and why it is an eyesore is because no one or body or section or anyone is interested in preserving it at all thus it became an eyesore. I remember the jail from blank wall to sight of prisoners unleashing their artistic talent and painted it and now... the end of the end of the end of the end. Now those who agreed with the demolition said some insane stuff like (in The Star)...

1. it is located in heart of the city therefore pointless to preserve it

By this logic the coliseum in Rome MUST be demolished

2. waste of space

Good logic but then so is the individual expressing this so shall we "demolish" him/her?

3. old

Which is the point why we must preserve it

Even more interesting is how former prison warden remembered "fond memories" of that place. I wonder did he particularly enjoyed whipping the rapists, walking the death penalty prisoners during their last walk, etc? Did he walked around the prison walls smiling at the place he has such fond memories of? What is so fond when we are talking about prisons?

Anyway what's done is done. Just thank the heavens that we do not have coliseums or the terracotta warriors in the heart of KL because there it goes, demolished because they're in the heart of the city.

And what do we have to show for for our future archaeologists enthusiasts and would be Zahi Hawass sort of talent?

The headline in the local papers...

"A building discovered in the heart of the city of Kuala Lumpur, a Mall with residential apartments"

Malaysia is dying from lack of cultural related architecture. Yes a prison is a culture, it was an interesting phenomena in the sense when it was built KL was really half a jungle as it is called in Chinese even till today.

Which is why I am amazed by those ancient builders of great architecture in China, all buildings at least 2000 years old. Why? Because they could forsee far into the future and they often built such magnificent places AWAY from capital cities of the past and of present. They forseen these buildings will become heritage of the country one day and so wisely built the temple in the mountain, great wall of China, etc places where 10000 years on will still be undeveloped. If these places were in KL, by hell we will bulldoze it to build another unneeded mall and expensive apartments only rich, kept women, toy boys and expatriates can afford. Locals will probably still stay in Cheras, like myself and even then Cheras has plans to be developed into high end living place. NO THANK YOU! We are proudly middle class!

Kenneth Ma

I just found out Kenneth Ma (Kwok Ming) is not as old as I think he is, being 36 this year. I expected him to be older. Now this is one guy whose only scandal it seems is to ride the MTR and spend $30 a day. I wonder, does he have a girlfriend? And who is she? And how can anyone spend just $30 a day in HK when a bowl of wan tan me with lemon tea with ice is already that much? HOW?!

A keychain like the following, found only in Japan, known as a Ryoma keychain...

I am also obsessed with giant fish. I don't want to capture one, kill one or eat one. I am not greedy. I just want to hold one and snap a nice photo, like the following:-

That's an Arapaima, KLCC got but I doubt I am allowed to take a photo with it in my hand. I don't think I can control the giant fish!

or with a giant catfish also can!

Will never happen, like going to space and see Earth.

And I was watching a documentary on the most amazing funeral site! No, not the pyramid! Terracotta warriors! Amazing stuff! Anyway since Qin Shihuang died of mercury poisoning and mercury poisoning I read has been known to unwittingly preserve bodies (can't remember where I read it!!) and since he is buried in a sealed chamber which I assume is devoid of oxygen, no air thus no humidity and nicely covered in I presume a jade coffin which I presume is shut tight, I have this crazy feeling that his body is well preserved. I won't be surprised if he looked like the day he died thousands of years ago! And so I hope the archeologists just hurry up and open his burial chamber so that in my lifetime I would get to see his preserved body. I won't be shocked if he was only 5 feet tall but I would speculate his clothes and crown and all will be breathtakingly magnificent. He wanted immortality, he got it, even if not the way he wanted.

Anyway like Lady Dai of Han who died 2100 years ago, I can still see her breasts!!

She was the wife of the PM of that time. Super rich. Amazing read, here another one also. To think she once was alive, some 2100 years ago! Wow!

By the way fascinating read on mummified remains.

Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 is a bittersweet movie to a much beloved and worthy of such love franchise. How Andy has grown and like Woody I too couldn't let go of Andy and the Toy Story movies that weaved pure magic. What a beautiful movie! Will write a review proper for it but seriously, just go watch it and be prepared to laugh out loud, gasp in fear and cry at the ending. By the way this is sort of a scary Toy Story movie so it may not be suited for young children. I believe this movie was made for all the Andys who grew up watching Toy Story.

England, boring England

Was gonna watch England-Algeria in full but half time, still 0-0 and decided to go to sleep. I predicted 2-1, England winning but from the looks of it 1-0, still England winning. I shall see when I read the online news tomorrow. Even Prince Harry and Prince William looked bored and Beckham is there, he should just change and play. He with a limp is way better than what we see now out there.

7.45am, woke up, haven't even bath, first thing I googled and guess what? Useless England. 0-0. Entire English Premier League can "bungkus". Can't even score against kinda erratic looking Algeria, how to win? Can't even qualify to next round man! Let's hear their excuses. Perhaps the Princes jinxed them with their presence? Just read this article.

AND I hate the vuvuzelas. Just pure continous drowning noise and no musical benefit at all. Where have all the trumpets, drums and such gone? Where have those who play musical instruments as their team plays? I remember such entertaining musical fans during World Cup in USA, they were Dutch. Now, all the vuvuzelas just drown out such sounds. Just pure annoying noises. Can't even hear the whistle blowing sometimes. Someone please BAN THE VUVUZELAS for the TV audiences' peace of mind AND for the real musical fans!

A real WTH happened moment

"Next game I wanna watch is France Vs Mexico but wanna sleep. Heart is for Mexico, money on France" [Re this post]

Which is why I can never be rich sport betting! What happened France? 2-0??

Tonight or rather tomorrow morning, England Vs Algeria. Heart and money on England BUT Algeria will make England sweat. Wasn't Zinedine Zidane Algerian by birth? No he isn't BUT parentage is Algerian!

And tomorrow I will be watching TOY STORY III!! Andy, don't leave Buzz and Woody!!

Finally completed episodic thoughts of Rosy Business! What an ending! And happy that I NEVER MISSED ONE SINGLE EPISODE! Anyway review coming soon...

Argentina, all the way!!

Absolute jubilation on my part. My chosen group, Argentina got in 4 goals to South Korea's 1 goal. However I must praise the South Korean goalkeeper. Excellent performance because he did saved a lot. But how to save a continued onslaught?

Likewise a shout out of the weeping Nigerian Goalkeeper. I feel your pain! He was excellent as well, although his entire defenders are all either dead, comatose, confused or all of those because he certainly had no help from them. So Nigeria 0, Greece which I looked down on got in 2 goals! Stupid Nigerian pl;ayer Kaita though who got a red card for kicking at a Greek player. You may say there was minimal contact but retaliation has always and rightfully warranted a straight red card.

Question is why did the South African goalkeeper got a red card in the match against Uruguay? What went wrong? Why so drastic? What did he do? Well seems to be a fluke reason. Not fair at all!

Next game I wanna watch is France Vs Mexico but wanna sleep. Heart is for Mexico, money on France.

P/s : I never liked Germany! And Italy although I love their shirt and the colour of their shirt. Saw a bit of North Korea vs Brazil and brilliant goals by both sides, one of which, the opening goal by Maicon at such a steep angle against North Koreans would be added to Football great moments hall of fame.

Is it at Youtube yet?

Seriously, if there is a youtube clip or any source with the clip featuring this latest sure to burst the ratings to stratosphere scene, please do tell me! I wanna see for myself! You know, judge for myself!!

Spain... WTH happened??

Spain 0, Switzerlad 1, this must be the most unexpected results and my only reaction is SPAIN, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? I tell you what happened. mistake, blunder, howler, chaos, goalkeeper problem, one whole Spanish defender by the goalpost and still... Switzerland?? On a scale of handsomeness, Spanish players, mostly handsome, Swiss players, all look like they need injections of blood plus some hair transpant. And guess who scored? A Swiss that looks like an African and who has a Spanish name, a Fernandes. Seriously screwed up game. But I am not a fan of Spanish, all the talent, none of the luck. The game was exciting though even it baffles the mind. I tell you, Argentina, I will bet on Argentina.

Football strategies by the nation

I have seen the following before many years ago but seeing them again especially now during the World Cup 2010 campaign reminds me how the strategy is still the way it is now! Funny stuff and very true except maybe Brazil is less flamboyant now and they do have a decent goalkeeper.

All are thumbnails so do click on them for larger size. Received them in an email.

Turkey is not in the World Cup 2010.

Of old age and George Carlin

I have been receiving the view of comedian/social critic George Carlin on old age every now and then and I thought why not repost here. You may have read them before and I do agree with what he said which is also pretty entertaining.

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. "How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!"

You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16!

And then the greatest day of your life . . . you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . . . YOU BECOME 21. . . YEAH!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk. He TURNED, we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.

Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 . . . and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime.

And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I was JUST 92." Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"

May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

More of his quotable quotes can be found here , but beware young netizens, his language can be rough but I am sure you won't die if you listen to one or two swear words. Some he sounded like an angry old man but frankly he did have a point. One of my favourite from the 101 quotes which is pretty relevant to me as a blogger ...

82. “No comment” is a comment.

and to those who dreams of the American Dream, he said this before in one of the stand up shows I've seen...

77. The reason they call it the American Dream is because you have to be asleep to believe it.

A sample video of the man in action, talking about religion.

RIP George Carlin.

End of the world as we know it

Because Brazil did not trash North Korea (sorry, the correct term is Korea DSP or is it ESP or PSP or ISP?) like 5-0 or 10-0. In fact it was 2-1. What a shocker! Now the question is will the players defect?

And Portugal ... what more can I say... so many zeros!

How boring!

But there should have been more yellow cards in that Portugal game. For once Cristiano Ronaldo didn't dive but was kicked, pushed, etc. He did remained calm. I may call him an egoistical vain peacock but this guy has got skills and ambition. He really wants to make Portugal proud, also for personal glory but many a times he passed to ball to someone else. That shows maturity. But can Portugal go to quarterfinals?

What game I look forward to next? Spain. Everybody says they're winning the world cup. As for England, still saying "We can do better" when they have the entire experience of EPL with them. No England, you can't do better, you just need to do. That's it!

My take on Mysteries Of Love & the whole debate

I was replying to Kidd's comments in this post about Galileo Vs Mysteries Of Love which is a follow up to my 2 other comments posted and Blogger said I have exceeded my limit. So I decided to post them in a new post as follows:-

Ahhh did some search and it is Untraceable Evidence and realised that is stated in the forum by you! Not just elements, but whole chunk of characters.

We have

ME = Kay Scarpetta = Flora Chan
Niece with an irresponsible mother
Police detective, except it is a merge between the FBI profiler and the policeman character

Etc etc etc

It is the same except the niece is not a lesbian or a genius in the series.

Does it make it less apparent?

And one even posted about if never buy copyright then there's no copyright infringement? What is the logic in that?

Look, we all know TVB copied since time immemorial, and they never credited the source in the end credits which means they never bought the rights in the first place. It doesn't matter how much you copied, even if just one element, credit must be given. This is not blown out of proportion but it is time certain things are highlighted and exposed. TVB didn't purchase the rights because

1. they didn't think they have to
2. rights are expensive
3. fujiTV already bought the exclusive rights I presume since I am sure sequels are in order SO the author can't sell the rights to TVB. I am not sure how the copyright of books to TV works in Japan but in hollywood, if one studio wants to make a movie from a book purchased by another studio, they need to BUY that rights from that studio. Authors sell their rights one off I suppose. Which is why TVB won't pay FujiTV, in my opinion.

You can compare, contrast, deny, agree but the truth is TVB is guilty as hell. And moreover, TVB has as I have said perhaps copied from a too well known source! They should have delayed release for another year or two. Why this is so big is because

1. Galileo was one of the top series
2. the lead Fukuyama Masaharu has a huge fanbase in HK
3. Fukuyama Masaharu is very famous this year, this is in fact his year in music and in acting
4. and tvb had it long time coming

This is different from JTTW which is an open source for adaptation. In fact I never did notice whether the end credits have ever credited the author of JTTW at all.

The fans can cry and say MOL is different, or the other fans can say galileo fans are being petty but what if it is the other way around? What if Japan remakes say Beyond The Realm Of Conscience or something original from TVB and never credited them at all? It is the same thing.

And I hate how the fans say they prefer MOL because it has romance whilst Galileo is more on cases, dry, etc. Yes that is the distinction between the 2. BUT my take on this, my dissatisfaction in this is no longer it is copied/borrowed/inspired/plagarised or one is romance the other is cases oriented but rather

1. MOL plot is darn stupid. The characterisation even without comparing with Galileo is so cartoonish I wonder is it a comedy or a drama or a police story or what?

2. therefore the entire plot is in shamble

3. they say different whatever but in the end it is pure TVB; romance, friendship, etc not that I am complaining but damn hell I am bored. That is why sometimes a series as weak as Moonlight Resonance could win ratings. Why? Slightly different, more confrontation

4. TVB series is becoming more K-drama of yesteryears with heavy emphasis on love stories, almost Hindi in fact. And MOL's love story is how shall I put it, impossible. And I hate the parents of Ray's character. So darn silly.

5. Cases, no comment. This has never been TVB's strong point.

6. Ray's costume is more bartender than professor and his character is more gay than straight, the way I see it

7. the whole red wine in pub.. arghhhh and some English thrown in... arghhhhh ... suits for academics.. arghhhh.. how pretentious!

8. nicknames for everybody and will forever be that way whenever TVB makes a series about police officers or civil service

9. why do they need a physic professor for cases that even a smarter police can solve? What scientific elements are there in the cases? Why are the police always portrayed as someone rough, less educated, stupid in fact?

Look at MOL itself, don't look at Galileo. Even Galileo I have my complaints but MOL itself is a poorly written and filmed series. It sucks and that is only episode 1. It seems the main attraction seems to be FungYi which to me is not a good pairing because Yeung Yi looks older and sometimes manlier than Raymond and the whole Bernice stripping.

Kidd you are right in your past comment, I think you said it. That they should have gender switched the roles, make it more interesting.

And the title Mysteries Of Love on point but darn awful!

And all that without even looking at Galileo! So judge MOL by itself, TVB has spew another weak drama or whatever it wants to be. No need original, give the fans better storyline! We certainly deserve better. Go back to the days of JTTW, an adaptation with original elements thrown in, great music, great acting, great story.

World Cup Roundup

Wow! Japan 1, Cameroon 0! Actually I wasn't surprised since I am not familiar with Cameroon and I always thought Japan played the game well but apparently this is an unexpected win. Japan had many chances and a very good goalkeeper whilst Cameroon has good goalkeeper and many chances too. Perhaps no luck or perhaps Japan has better form.

Denmark 0 and Holland 2, thanks to 1 howler by Denmark who entered own goal and the same defender from Denmark made an amazing safe later.

Great games!

Later tonight.. Portugal. Let's see C. Ronaldo in action! I predict 2 goals from Portugal and Portugal wins.

World Cup Roundup

If England can't win over USA, England will never hoist the World Cup, believe me. How useless! Argentina and Nigeria played a great game but Argentina no luck in scoring goals. Nerves by Messi? Maybe but they have a good chance. South Korea did show better form than the messy unspirited flat Greece who seems just out of their league when they do have the skills. What happened? Mexico and South Africa, the former has the skills but no luck, the latter less skills but the fans. Not surprised by the results. France and Uruguay, no comment!

World Cup 2010

Yeah! World Cup starting this morning at 2am! Bloody 2am! How to watch?! Luckily the matches are during dinner to prime time but hey, Chai Gau wins ok?

Anyway my brother predicted Spain as the winner, and as usual Brazil. When has Brazil never been the predicted winner? It would be a national disaster if they lose and I know they will. I think Argentina will win. That is my opinion. And England will crash out in quarterfinals, and so do Portugal. And Wayne Rooney will not be the best goalscorer, someone from some insignificant group will. And South Korea is in right? They won't qualify. Finito!

Why Argentina you say? Gut feeling!

But some also say Germany. Maybe. Spain also I like but they have all the talents but all the worst luck. Mexico maybe?

Argentina! All the way!

There's an Edison in every nation

It's true to say that there is an Edison in every nation and I meant Edison Chen. First Edison from HK, then there's one celebrity doctor in Philipines and now in Indonesia with a total of more than 30 videos starring the lead singer of Peterpan and many starlets, models, etc. I have heard of this band, very good singer too but never quite know how the lead singer Nazril Ariel look like. Now we all know, from top to bottom. Why is it men still insist on recording themselves and women stupidly let them do it? And somehow the videos got leaked? And then they deny it's them when you know, just compare pictures and the truth is out there?

And it shows when Asians wanna do something explosive we do it million times more explosive than our western counterpart. I mean Colin Farrel sex tape is just 1 and Paris Hilton less than 5 but Asians, double digits.

Is that progress or are we a nation of repressed wannabe porn star? I am waiting for China which has some models leaked photos but not 30 odd videos.

Stupid girls. Don't anyone know internet is perpetual?Don't anyone understand Internet is unbiased and so everybody gets the same exposure? Google Edison and I am sure you can still find Cecilia Cheung naked photos. These are perpetuals. At least Edison didn't have a video leaked. Just photos. I don't even think I want to see him in action though.

Air conditioner & a case about steering lock

My room was recently repainted and I am getting new bed, table and wardrobe cupboard, courtesy of my sister! Yeah! But my room has always been the hottest, like some oven so I decided to buy myself an air-conditioner. So expensive, whatever the brand. I really liked Samsung and LG because of their looks but a quick online search tells me never, don't, no way so I didn't. Since that air cond will be used the longest although not frequently I decided on an inverter to save electricity in the long run and also because it is latest technology. Ok, my room is small so I decided on 1hp. Problem is which brand? I read how good is Daikin and so was tempted and they're quite cheaper than usual even if kinda ugly looking and my sis said Daikin manufactures those container fridge used in transporting by sea so must be good. Problem is not many sell Daikin. The one place I finally found a bit varied choices is Seng Heng I think and they sell LG (NO), Samsung (NO), SHARP (NO) and Panasonic.

Now everyone says Panasonic inverter is expensive to install but in the long run is very good for home use. So in the end, after reading reviews and limited to choices I decided on the most standard Panasonic Inverter which according to the seller that does not exist. Only one model exist so I had to buy that, together with installation fee is RM1449. Installation is about RM200 so the air cond itself is RM1229. Is that expensive? I found a place with RM1 cheaper but you know installation can kill you since my room is upstairs. But it comes with standard 8 feet pipe or something. I think my room probably needs only half of that since the distance between my air cond and the split unit is within the reach of my hand. And the powerpoint is nearby too.

Anyway I went in search on what model I got for myself and it is "CS-S10KKH ~ 1.0HP" and I found out it is "Inverter Deluxe - ECO SENSE I2" which is the latest of the latest. The one I asked about did exist and it is "Standard - Inverter - CS-PS9KKH (CU-PS9KKH) ~ 1.0HP" which apparently does not exist in the world of Seng Heng. I am sure that must be cheaper. He did try to sell me a non-inverter, I suppose is "CS-PC9KKH (CU-PC9KKH) ~ 1.0HP - Standard wireless" which is about RM200 cheaper than the one I bought. But I already decided on an inverter for the sake of the name I suppose? Don't know why.

My air cond looks like this:-

Panasonic can't be bothered with design but at least it doesn't look like a wall fridge. Quite big though. What it has?

ECO Intelligence
5 Star Energy Rating Product
Intelligent Inverter
ECO Patrol
ADVANCED+PLUS e-ion Air Purifying System with Patrol Sensor
Mild Dry Cooling

My worry is mild dry cooling. I want south pole cold and not mild dry cooling. What I like is Eco Patrol, the whole inverter and especially the air purifier, so my room will have clean cooling air! Yeah!

Maintenance I was told will be slightly more expensive, like normal is RM150, mine will be RM180 or so. I was also told not many air cond guys know how to install or maintain an inverter. That I am not sure.

In fact many air conds now got inverter, like Samsung which I really like the design, slim, colourful but the reputation of Samsung preceeds it. My sister said for electronics, get Japanese brand. Even Mitsubishi air conds got good reputation. And Panasonic was National. In fact my sis kept saying I wanna buy National. But I also read new Panasonic not like old National but still a good dependable brand. Hey, my plasma TV is great!

Imagine this; my sis's room got one air cond inherited from my mom who bought it like 20 years ago? Singer and still running.

I just hope my air cond works as it should and continues to at least work for some number of years. I can't afford to get another one.

In fact I am on a monthly repayment scheme, courtesy of my sister. I plan to repay RM100 for the next few months and when my credit card debt is cleared, RM200 per month or so. Since I already paid RM400, it means I still have about RM1100 left. I am so so so poor but so so so cool, eventually.

Why eventually?

The air cond will only come into my life about 10 days later. No more stock, need to order. Not just there, even at Jusco which requires ONE MONTH!

Wow, so popular one ah?

But I am ashamed of myself in a way. Can't even afford an upfront payment for that air cond. I really need to save more money.

And a very frustrating thing happened, so beware!

Last Friday I parked at The Gardens, used a steering lock, the one that looks like a baseball bat and the key is the one that is hollow in the middle. The brand is T-Rex. After some happy dinner, went to car and guess what? My key couldn't get into the steering lock!! However I tried. I thought maybe my key's longest point must have broken off and stuck in the lock but I compared my 2 keys and they were same so the problem was the steering lock itself. Called my sis, in a panic and as suggested I called Perodua centre since my car is under warranty although yes you're right, what has that bat got to do with my car? Anyway I called, first girl wasn't friendly but did say one guy can drop by and open it for RM120. Woahhhh! So expensive! I said wait a while. I tried to pry open, I did everything, couldn't. Called my sis and said look I don't have RM120 with me. So she will come by with my eldest sis since she works nearby and was leaving. Meanwhile called perodua again, this time a guy took the phone and was friendlier and more helpful and said my case was the first and that he really don't know what the guy will do. He said he is sending a locksmith. Not long later the locksmith called me, Chinese guy and said he can open it but will probably be unusable later. I said as long as I can go home, whatever! But I was worried will my steering wheel be scratched? He assured me no. I said what's the problem and he said probably the key lock out of alignment. Since he can explain it means it has happened before. He will be there in half an hour and I thought at this hour at Midvalley, times that by 3. Moreover he doesn't seem to recognise The Gardens. Not long after my sister arrived, gave me some scolding and I told you so lecture and I said I need to go to the toilet. I went, came back about 15 minutes later and the guy was already there halfway through. He drilled, he pulled, he hacked and drilled some more, like fixing a very expensive watch and got it opened I suppose in 15 minutes less. Took my money and left with his girlfriend in his car. Easiest money to earn I tell you. My sis told me he saw her and asked why she (thinking she was me) didn't take the call in a very pleasant way. I thought how friendly. Later Perodua guy called and asked how was it, did it take long, what happened and did the guy charge me any other sum. I thought what a great follow up service but damn, RM120 poorer!!

Point is, never buy a steering lock or any car lock where the key is hollow in the middle. Buy the one with a cross shape key. If not, look at me, RM120 poorer and quite a fool. I am sure I am the conversation of the day, like "Did you hear about that fat one who couldn't open her steering lock?" and if I didn't know better, I would have laughed the loudest because in retrospect it was kinda funny. I tell you I am at my best in a crisis which involves my car that can be fixed but requires yes yes yes, MONEY.
